Said encyclopedia may very well be in the Public Domain, but its style is different from what one expects on WP, its 1901 information may be outdated, and its citations are cryptic and have not been converted to WP inline citations. I'm adding the Multiple Issues template to the page to draw attention to some of its problems.
I suspect the entire article needs to be rewritten by editors knowledgeable on the topic, rather than someone who came here seeking basic information, like I did.Downstrike (talk)09:59, 18 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I would seriously recommend deleting the sentence in parentheses, in the sub-section: "The Present Text," which reads: "(Ḳid. 33a cannot be cited in proof, because R. Simeon b. Rebbi can hardly have taught Ḥiyya's Sifra)." The reason here is plain. Rabbi Simeon, the son of Rebbi (R. Yehudah Hanassi), would have lived eitherduring orafter the generation of Rabbi Hiyya. This same Rabbi Hiyya was also a contemporary of Rab, and was in fact his uncle, as proven by the Babylonian Talmud (Pesahim 4a), while this same Rab who is believed to have compiled the Sifra and Sifrei, studied under Rabbi Yehudah Hanassi, the father of Rabbi Simeon, as also proven by the Talmud (Hullin 137b). There is, therefore, no reason to doubt the source in Kiddushin 33a.Davidbena (talk)15:02, 13 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Discuss the proposed change with the editor in question, and you should hopefully understand the reasons for why the edit was undone, and may not be needed, or ways in which it can be changed to conform to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
