It is said the name is Ancient Greek "pyramis" but not that the word is a compound of "pyr" (as in "pyromaniac", meaning fire) and "amis" (same meaning as "amidst").
The word for it in Arabic is "haram" (هرم) and might be connected to the name of "Hermes" as the god's name/function comes from both "Herm", which explicitly means "Stack of stones" and the EGYPTIAN god Thoth. Thoth is seen as an architect god and is often credited with "building" the pyramids.
I get that this is seen as original research but couldn't we at least say it's of unknown ultimate origin, and might be Pre-Greek ?— Precedingunsigned comment added byConfusedEnoch (talk •contribs)
We should finally accept new scientific findiongs, which show that the pyramids are made of concrete: seehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMAtkjy_YK42A07:3D01:102:A900:8D63:B110:E3C1:6203 (talk)19:31, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
