Remove nomadic from the lead. We are settled farming peole and the percentages for Pakistan is wrong
Remove nomadic from the lead, Pashtuns are settled farming people. Also, the percentages for Pakistan is wrong. There are only 28 million Pashtuns there2607:FEA8:4D60:590:D0A2:F38F:7DB3:F799 (talk)23:09, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Pashtuns are about 28-22 % of pakistan and have the highest birth rate. that would put their population in the 50-60 million range based on current population statistics. there are almost 3 x the number of pashtuns in Pakistan making it the country with the largest pashtun population in the world The article should reflect this.— Precedingunsigned comment added by2607:FEA8:1323:EC00:4CAC:27FF:875C:2143 (talk)00:25, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've edited the amount of Pashtun people living in different countries as per the most accurate and reliable sources out there, which definitely includes censuses done inside those countries, as well as reliable governmental data. Let's first break down all of the problems that were left untouched in this page.
1) The source for Pashtuns living in the United Kingdom from June 2009 (which is outdated), had showed an estimation of 100,000 Pashtuns, and the population inserted was 200,000. Whereas I've added the United Kingdom's Census of 2021-2022 had shown 50,597 Pashtuns (-49,403).
2) The source for Pashtuns living in Germany from January 2017, had estimated that there are 37,800 Pashtuns, through a mere guess and an unreliable calculation based on Afghanistan's Pashtun population. This is shown by taking "42%" (Afghanistan's Pashtun population in percentage) and "90,000" (total Afghans in Germany). This is unreliable due to its bias and outdated relation with the country of Germany, it only shows an inaccurate calculation for Afghans.
The population inserted was 150,800 out of nowhere, Afghans were only being counted, and not the Pashtuns of Pakistan. I've cited Germany's microcensus and generated a more accurate number for the Pashtun population in Germany, which accounts to 48,000 Pashtuns (10,200+).
3) The source for Pashtuns living in Australia was severely outdated and did not estimate the Pashtun population of Australia. In fact, the inserted population was nearly ten times the actual number of Pashtuns living in Australia. I've added a new source that is based on both Afghan and Pakistani Pashtuns, as well as their presence in the country of Australia, which had accounted to 8,987 Pashtuns (-72,167).
4) And lastly, the Pashtun population of Canada lacked proper verification, and I had to find a new source from UPG North America to get an estimation of Canada's Pashtun population, which accounts to 9,825 (-50,765).
None of the inserted populations for Pashtun populations spanning across those countries were accurate, but either underlooked or overlooked, and I had fixed it by adding the most reliable and recent sources.AfghanTsakhtan (talk)18:56, 9 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Afghan is still used for pashtuns. Instead of Pathans write Afghans because Afghan was and still is used by pashtuns but pathans are not really our own language word it is used by punjabis and British182.184.233.203 (talk)09:41, 19 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
