Gabriele Falloppio, inventor of the condom?

[edit]

An anonymous editor,70.59.65.204(talk ·contribs ·IP contribs ·WHOIS) has repeatedlyadded the "Inventor of the condom" tagline to the above entry (death, 1562).Condoms have been in use for thousands of years in some form, so claiming that Falloppio invented them is incorrect. I've reverted the IP twice, and I'd like an outside opinion. --Flyguy649talkcontribs15:34, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cupcakes for Life, Should be added!

[edit]

It is a new national holiday started by the pro-life movement. This is a link to the main web pagehttp://www.cupcakesforlife.org/ . It is a Holiday so it should be added. I did include a link to the site so I am not making it up.—Precedingunsigned comment added by208.95.51.135 (talk)16:42, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There are noreliable sources documenting that this event is notable, andWikipedia is not a soapbox.Favonian (talk)17:12, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't have a Wikipedia article, so shouldn't be listed on a day of year article.UK John UK (talk)15:15, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What are the guidlines for Births?

[edit]

I added myself and it was removed, can you please post a births guideline like the one posted for anniversaries? Because I did not think there would be a restriction since I could not find one. Thanks.— Precedingunsigned comment added by15.203.233.75 (talk)17:21, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

On This Day

[edit]

I’ve noticed — for some of the days in October — that some of the entries refer us to the relevant page from OnThisDay.com.

Which is fair enough.

But can we ALSO start adding the equivalent page from Britannica.com?

I also note we’ve long had entries from the BBC, the New Yor Times and the Canada Channel.

Is it possible to add the equivalents — if there are any — from Australia and New Zealand?

And possibly India?

I know it would add extra work, but having entries from major English language counties seems only right.

1831 – Kapodistrias assassinated

[edit]

The entry says he was the first head of state of the Kingdom of Greece, which is obviously wrong. I suggest that he be identified as the first head of state of Greece following its independence from the Ottoman Empire. —70.107.189.128 (talk)08:52, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Correction: Kapodistrias was already the governor when the war for independence ended, and when Greece's independence was recognized by France, Russia and the United Kingdom. He was the first head of state of theHellenic State, but I suspect few readers will recognize thatHellenic State means Greece, or figure out when it existed. So, how about identifying him as the head of state of Greece when it became independent of the Ottoman Empire? —70.107.189.128 (talk)09:37, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
