Lady Gaga teased her new solo album as "LG7" in Twitter (X)here. But in Wikipedia, this album is referred to Lady Gaga's 7th studio album. It's so confusing, and also I believe that Lady Gaga's 2nd album is <Born This Way>, because interscope records wrote like thathere, but ARTPOP is so vague. Is there any evidences that Lady Gaga or her rabel revealed ARTPOP as 3rd?Arismauve (talk)09:02, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We must follow the sources rather than fight them. The media is portraying Gaga's upcoming unnamed "LG7" album as her seventh, according toOfficial Charts,Billboard magazine andElle magazine. Elle conveniently lists the previous six albums, and says that Gaga's other recent activity includes this Tony Bennett collab, 2024'sHarlequin and 2018'sA Star Is Born—in this mannerElle chooses not to count the collab as part of Gaga's album sequence. Other sources say that LG7 is her seventh "solo album", setting aside the question of where this collaborative album stands. Sources saying seventh solo album includePeople magazine. Another slightly different wording comes from some sources saying LG7 is her seventh "studio album", whatever they mean by that. SeeVogue magazine and others.
Gaga said thatHarlequin was somewhere in between a solo album and a soundtrack album, taking the place of 6.5 in the album sequence.[1]
Cosmopolitan magazine is one of the few sources playing it safe, saying that LG7's title "implies" that it "would be Lady Gaga’s seventh album" after the six previous ones up toChromatica in 2020, not counting the soundtrack albums, and not counting 2014's Bennett collab onCheek to Cheek.
even though countless of talk pages, Love for Sale IS NOT A SEVNTH ALBUM anyway. we should respect Lady Gaga's announcement. She said "LG7" will be out now in twitter, and most of people know her new album asseventh. Same case withKaty Perry's143. (It was announced as KP6 before its release, so it's sixth, not a seventh.)
yes, i'm aware of the rules of wikipedia (which you mentioned) that counts album numbers regardless of the way aritists said. but, to be honest, i think it's not respecting artists and just ignoring, disgracing what they said. then there's no meaning of making documents of them.
so, we should respect artists' announcemnets. it's a first and most important source. if they say "it's my seventh album!" then it's seventh.Arismauve (talk)00:31, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Don't simply assume numbers from informal descriptions are firm indications of count. Being a collaborative effort is a poor excuse to downplay how this is in fact Gaga's overall seventh album.SNUGGUMS (talk /edits)04:04, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
STOP ignoring what she said. even it's informal descriptions, it's reliable. Same case w Katy Perry, what you do is just dishonoring artistsArismauve (talk)05:05, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Artists informal count of their albums is sometimes wrong and very cherrypicking.Christina Aguilera always cosindersStripped as her second album. In fact it is her fourth album, asMi Reflejo andMy Kind of Christmas are unquestionably "studio albums" per standard definition. Same thing applies toKaty Perry who ignored her failed debut album, orShakira for her first two Colombian albums. Whether an album is a "studio album" or not should be discussed case by case on their respective article.Bluesatellite (talk)03:17, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
what is "standard definition"? who defined it, and is it official standard? what is it?
and in this case, it's different w others' cases. Katy official store defined 143 as sixth. If you claim official website said wrong, sorry for your loss.
I checked that y'all regard LG7 as Laday Gaga's SOLO album, but then The Fame 1st, Born This Way 2nd, ARTPOP 3rd, Joanne 4th, Chromatica 5th. IT CAN'T BE LG7 IF Y'ALL REGARD IT AS SOLO ALBUM COUNTING. Oh, The Fame Monster is EP in here so y'all never can regard it as 2nd studio album. SO, LG7 IS NOT HER SOLO ALBUM COUNTING.Camilasdandelions (talk)04:26, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's why LG7 term is invalid and should not be a problem here. She considersThe Fame Moster as her "sophomore album" but at the same time she also called it an "EP".[2]Bluesatellite (talk)05:12, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes.. I agree that The Fame Monster is an EP due to that reason. I was vague that why Lady Gaga told her upcoming album as LG7, but anyway she announced it and everyone except here believed that her upcoming album is seventh, so I think we habe to respect them too.Camilasdandelions (talk)05:47, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
She has her own definition of "main album" chronology, which includesThe Fame Monster EP, but excludes collaborative studio albums and movie-related albums. That's just fine. However, it's clear that "LG7" doesn't mean "7thstudio album".Bluesatellite (talk)06:07, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think it was explained a couple of times before, but here we go again. These abbreviations like LG6 (Chromatica), or R9 (Rihanna's next album) come from stan lingo. Fans like to make abbreviatons because they use X (formerly known as Twitter) and they have limited space or too lazy to type all of this out. Artists started to use these abbreviatons a couple of years ago to hype up their next projects without actually telling the title. Gaga obviously never referred to Love for Sale as LG7 because her fans never called it like that, and also it's a collab album, so it wouldn't make any sense. She would probably call Cheek to Cheek TBLG1 and Love for Sale TBLG2, but there was no need for abbreviatons for these projects. That doesn't mean those don't count as a studio album, especially when sources called Cheek to Cheek as her 4th studio album before, Love for Sale obviously counts as well. When the time comes to make an article for Gaga's next studio album, we can just state it's her 8th studio album and 7th solo project or something like that if it's really confusing for some people. Also there's a Billboard source in the article that explicitly states Love for Sale was her 7th studio album not counting A Star Is Born. What else is needed to close this argument finally?Kirtap92 (talk)08:52, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
