NPOV material

[edit]

I managed to stumble upon this article and was treated with the following paragraph in the article's lead:

In a book named "The Importance of Media Integrity" which was published as a part of "South East European Media Observatory" project, Jutarnji List was rated as serving as a "ruling party bulletin".[1] Ruling party at the time was right-wing Hrvatska Demokratska Zajednica (HDZ) which is convicted for criminal activity and corruption.[2] At the time of writing HDZ is still in power and Jutarnji List has since shown no restraint in supporting the criminal status quo. Jutarnji List which is marketed as left-leaning is as such engaged in widespread public opinion manipulation campaigns by spreading HDZ propaganda while marketing itself as liberal and social-democratic.

This is clearly a violation ofWP:NPOV, so I deleted it. However, the comment about the newspaper being criticized as a ruling party bulletin is potentially includable, so with the help of Google Translate, I decided to seek out the actual comment in the linked source (locatedhere). I did find the comment in question on page 78 ("Jutarnji neka vrsta biltena vlasti." ("Jutarnji is a kind of government bulletin.")). However, it is not clear which political party it was referring to, nor what year the comment was made, so I'm not sure if the above paragraph is even correct in saying that Jutarnji was defending the HDZ. If someone who actually understands Croatian wants to check the document, then you could potentially include the relevant comment under the "Controversies" section.Mlb96 (talk)07:27, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I am concerned,Jutarnji list never was a bulletin of any ruling party. It was pretty close to theRačan's government in its first year, but not ever more. The daily fought theTuđman's regime as illiberal and in Nineties was, with weeklyGlobus (in the same publishing houseEPH) and withFeral Tribune, the main bastion of opposition to HDZ in the Croatian printed press. The investigative journalists inJutarnji list discovered some main scandals of HDZ, for instance gave space toAnkica Lepej's leak of unreported bank account of Tuđman's wifeAnkica Tuđman.Jutarnji list discovered and published details of alleged corruption scandals involving then HDZ's foreign ministerMiomir Žužul, and he resigned. During the actualPlenković's governmentJutarnji list initiated or with its investigations contributed to several ministers' resignation.
Take in consideration that I have been a correspondent ofJutarnji list from 2000 on, so I might be in a conflict of interests. Anyway, there are administrators who speak Croatian and follow Croatian press, so they can confirm my point of view. --Inoslav Bešker (talk)05:23, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
