In addition, it is considered all but impossible to defeat an Appropriations Committee chairman in an election.I assume you're arguing causation: Whitten was reelected in part because he was Appropriations chairman. Perhaps that's true, but then again it may be only a matter of correlation rather than causation, especially in Whitten's case. Could well be why he was removed as chair of the Appropriations committee in 1993 and why he didn't seek reelection in 1994 ? -Rod57 (talk)19:50, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
