Should the Gill-Man really have a page of his own? None of the other Universal Monsters do, and they're all clearly superior to the Gill-man in both fame and the quality of their films....
The Gill-man is special. SG—Precedingunsigned comment added by75.48.25.28 (talk)20:12, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The comparison between the Gill-man and the Missing Link from Monsters vs. Aliens is incorrect. The Missing Link has the tail of a fish and the head of an ape, so obviously it is based on the Fiji Mermaid.
Under the heading of "In popular culture" and the sub-heading of "comics/graphic novels" it should be mentioned that a prequel comic to the Van Helsing movie ("Under the Rue Morgue," I believe) was published and it combined the Rue Morgue story, Dr. Moreau, and the Gill-Man elements. Gill-Man was presumably one of the beast-men created by Dr. Moreau who was operating under the Rue Morgue until Van Helsing routed him. The two fled to relocate, presumably at the island later populated by Dr. Moreau's "children" and possibly also the location of the Black Lagoon - in the Van Helsing version of the Universal Monsters, that is.Medleystudios72 (talk)14:58, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This article is poorly developed and undersourced and needs to be rewritten. The article is missing important information on the character's concept and creation which needs to be added to the article with proper citations. The character's appearances should be tones down and added to an appearance section split into film and literature sub-sections. Much of the information found in this article is either not properly sourced or is completely unsourced. The citations that are incorrectly generated need to be fixed correctly and unsourced information given proper citations. This article has a lot of work that is needed to be done to it in order to meet Wikipiedia's guidelines and standards of a properly developed and sourced article.--Paleface Jack (talk)19:36, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Since this article essentially needs to be completely rewritten, I have created a separate userpage as a means to rewrite and expand this article. I will include the like to that articlehere. If anyone wants to work on this please feelfree to let me know since I will be working on this article at a later date.--Paleface Jack (talk)17:29, 7 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
