attack link edit war

[edit]

There seems to be anedit war brewing over linking the phrase "the rampant egotism of self-appointed 'mastermind' authors" toStephenie Meyer. Where is the evidence that this phrase directly refers to her? I've never seen this program, but the article indicates that it spoofs shows from the 80's, before the Twilight books were even written. Without asource it absolutely does not belong, as it is inflammatory and violatesWP:BLP.Beeblebrox (talk)19:43, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

QuoteGarth Marenghi's Darkplace shows the adventures of Dr. Rick Dagless, M.D., as he fights the forces of darkness while simultaneously coping with the pressures of day to day admin.afair this is a direct quote from the booklet included with the DVD or the back of the case. It should be marked as such.—Precedingunsigned comment added by194.120.150.21 (talk)11:32, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Julian barratt was in the 1st episode as well. He overseas the funeral.—Precedingunsigned comment added by81.157.206.214 (talk)23:55, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

80.217.139.96 (talk)22:05, 29 October 2010 (UTC) The similarities in style of Marenghi's intros to at least the first page of Stephen King's Dark Tower Series is striking! This and the allusion in the title would warrant a mention in the article, I think.[reply]

H.P. Lovecraft

[edit]

Elements of the show, but especially the episode 6 title "...Shores of Shuggoth" perhaps warrants a link toHP_Lovecraft.— Precedingunsigned comment added byGnomeza (talkcontribs)14:18, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

High production costs?

[edit]

There is a citation needed bit after that, but it seems pretty unlikely. The thing is noticeably and deliberatelylow budget.— Precedingunsigned comment added byWikiditm (talkcontribs)12:12, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You're right. I've removed it. Feel free to simply removed unsourced dubious statements.--Shantavira|feed me14:28, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I remember reading that itwas relatively expensive - it was shot on film (Super 16mm,no less) with proper lighting, in order to make it look like an authentic vintage show; and despite being cheesy, the sets and effects are impressively elaborate for a television sitcom budget. This article mentions "high production costs" but, dammit, I can't find a better source. But the universe is infinite, and so one day there must be a better source. There must be. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk)18:31, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is Ayoade's voice dubbed?

[edit]

Richard Ayoade's voice, both "in" and "out" of character, doesn't sound much like his normal voice, in fact it sounds a lot more likeHarry Enfield. Of course that doesn't mean it's not him, although if it is I suspect he may have needed some digital enhancement. Either way, some clarification would be welcome.Lee M (talk)04:32, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

US Adult Swim

[edit]

The show was aired on Adult Swim as well. That's how I found out about it. Should add it in there.2601:195:C581:26E0:E8DE:F05C:C208:7FF0 (talk)06:29, 22 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Essay-like tag

[edit]

I added this tag to the Characters section because the main characters' descriptions are written with subjective phrases that are stated as fact.Cleebadee (talk)21:02, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
