Thanks. I looked for that but couldn't find it. When talking about a single artist it's odd to talk about a place of origin, but I'm not sure what a better term would be. As the article states, however, Feist's career started in Calgary. She was a professional musician in Calgary before moving to Toronto. I don't really think she sings indie rock considering that indie rock is not an specific genre, it is a movement, an ethic and I think that the fact that she has signed to Interscope Records (which is owned by Universal Music Group)destroy the ethics of her being indie rock (and her newest album is said to be indie rock). "Indie rock" has most certainly become a genre alongside being a movement or, more accurate still, a simple fact (an unsigned rock musician is independently produced rock music).
