Merge?

[edit]

It seems to me that theCurragh and theCoracle are similar enough for the articles to be merged.User:Dumbo1

Disagree - similar, but not the same thing. Rgds -Trident1321:07, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Diagree - I suspect it isCurrach that is proposed for the merge but they are different and dreserve to be treated separately.Velela04:15, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely not! The Curragh is seagoing, and rowed with two oars per man; the Corwg is used in Fresh Waters and sculled, with one oar, one man! Both are ancient, highly adapted crafts, and each deserves its own listing.User:sionnyn

Similar craft

Zodiac??? Is there another, hidden meaning to "Zodiac" other than the semi-rigid inflatable outboard engine boats? Unless so, this is a nonsense entry to the list. --Himbeerkuchen (talk)12:22, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are saucer-shaped fishing skiffs, usually powered with an electric outboard motor, that resemble coracles. There are several commercial manufacturers and an article describing them here:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2654414/Pivot-cast-unbelievable-ease-Saucer-shaped-boat-touted-ultimate-fishing-vessel.html.— Precedingunsigned comment added by131.137.245.208 (talk)13:53, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This doesn't make any sense

Each river has its own design, tailored to the flow of the river.

Please tell me how this sentence makes any sence what-so-ever?Tonkatracker (talk)16:53, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For each of the major Rivers in Wales there is a design of Coracle unique to that river. Velela  Velela Talk 21:31, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have edited this to make it clearer and more meaningful --Raffele (talk)22:20, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Channel crossing

[edit]

I added another reference (BBC, seems more reliable than the one that was already there) to §Today for the 1974 Channel crossing. Then I copied the whole paragraph intoEnglish Channel, § By boat and noted it on theTalk page there. --Thnidu (talk)07:03, 10 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"Legitimate"?

[edit]

In the photo caption it says that John and Will Davis were the last "legitimate" coracle fishermen. What does this mean? "traditional" or last to do it legally due to the policy of cutting back on licenses? A clarification would be helpful.Bill (talk)01:55, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
