While it could potentially be considered a box office success, Passengers was in no way a “critical success.” It has a horrible score on Rotten Tomatoes, a lot of critics saw it for what it was (a manipulative Stockholm syndrome story) and panned the living daylights out of it, and received only one award, which was for production design.
