Background

[edit]

I added this sources but it need more integration. Lot of material there !

Please if you can, open, press escape many times when the page is loading ;), enjoy and integrate.Yug(talk)20:46, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This reverted edit may be relevant to the "Background" section since that section indeed explains the budget difficulties of Puerto Rico. Content to review:
"Puerto Rico pays no federal income tax. Unlike US states, where citizens are paying taxes to both the federal and state governments, and where the federal portion of Medicaid is funded by, in part, by contributions from state citizens' federal income tax payments, a ceiling exists on medicaid federal funding, whereby".
It would be a good addition, better if it get a source otherwise it will get reverted. cc:37.229.146.170=Givemefactsonly. --Yug(talk)17:20, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Official sources for the daily updates

[edit]

The official sitehttp://www.salud.gov.pr/Pages/coronavirus.aspx is down since 3 days. The alternative sourcehttps://bioseguridad.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/3bfb64c9a91944bc8c41edd8ff27e6df today reports less cases than yesterday and a different way of counting.Someone knows a third proper official source?OliverZena (talk)16:41, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • @OliverZena: Not sure ifTHIS site will work, but it might be worth keeping an eye on it and see... Today (24 April 2020 10:00PM EDST), that NYT site states "Updated April 24, 2020, 9:22 P.M. E.T." and lists 51 deaths and 1,276 cases. Iarchived it at the WayBack MachineHERE today at 02:00:07 GST, to guarantee it's still available for anyone interested in following up, since it seems the figures are a running total, giving only the latest figures today, while the reader has to make an approximation for deaths and cases for past dates if those are wanted. Hope this helps,Mercy11 (talk)02:13, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@OliverZena: They are the proper official source. What happened is that on the 21st of April PR Dept of health statistics ... reported they were double-counting some and alerted everyone that all the numbers would have to be reworked. That is why there are less numbers today then before. They were double-counting some. Again- There was some error in how they were counting and in the last few days they worked to update the numbers. Today's news report in the "official" newspaper El Nuevo Dia state (death=77, positive = 1276)[1] matches the numberson the Departamento de Salud en el Dashboard de su Página. (Dept of Health of PR Dashboard)[2] and that's why I didn't go to sleep yet 'cause I was waiting for your question. :) --The Eloquent Peasant (talk)02:36, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
23/abril/2020 6:20 AM ---> 24/abril/2020
Muertes (deaths) 69 ---> 77
Pruebas Pendientes (Tests Pending results) 1,940 ---> n/a
Total de Pruebas Realizadas (Total Tests Done) 12,680 ---> n/a
Cantidad de Pruebas Positivas (Total Positive Results) 1,416 ----> 1276
The site that is down will most likely be up again once the numbers are fixed. They are working on it now and have been since before the 21st when someone realized they'd been miscounting somewhere along the line. The official said there was a structural problem to the database they use for keeping count (is what I understood when I read the news report in El Nuevo Dia). They also are updating the Puerto Rico COVID-19 TASK FORCE Facebook page and the latest sheet is from April 22, 2020 here -->https://www.facebook.com/puertoricomedicaltaskforcecovid19/photos/a.107431500902173/129158272062829/?type=3&theater --The Eloquent Peasant (talk)02:58, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Statistics table

[edit]

I have a question regarding the Statistics section and the table listed within it. The table is broken down by regions defined by the Puerto Rico Department of Health and each municipality is listed as being apart of that region. Looking at the rest of the United States and its individual states and territories, these tables are broken down by counties, parishes, boroughs, municipalities, etc. Would it make sense to break these down by the municipalities so that totals can be listed for each of them instead of a group within a region? —Mr Xaero☎️18:04, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Mr Xaero: Hi. I see you've done excellent work on Covid pandemic articles. So I think the information isnow also available by municipality but I don't think it was available by municipality versus region from the beginning of the pandemic. So what do you think? Would we create a table by municipalities starting as of today and moving forward? --The Eloquent Peasant (talk)20:44, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@The Eloquent Peasant: I am working on making templates for this data and by using themunicipalities it would put the data inline with the other states and territories. However, I do not have a timeframe as to when I will get this done as there are over 3,200 counties and county-equivalents in the 50 states, the District of Colombia and the territories. —Mr Xaero☎️23:59, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Mr Xaero: I won't commit to updating a statistics table that has 78 rows. It's hard enough keeping the regions table updated on a daily basis. Just thought you ought to know. Have a nice weekend. --The Eloquent Peasant (talk)21:23, 1 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The Eloquent Peasant, so looking at the dashboard that Puerto Rico is providing, the data appears to be easily retrievable by a simple copy and paste. Although there are many more rows than the health district, it appears that it will require little effort to update. After looking at all the other tables that were displayed on other articles, those numbers do not appear to be updated daily. Some articles had not been updated since late March on some of the states with a smaller number of counties. What surprised my was that Texas with 254 counties was being updated almost daily. —Mr Xaero☎️18:34, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Mr Xaero Thanks for working on the table. It looks really good and provides helpful data.The Eloquent Peasant (talk)20:42, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Mr Xaero I noticed some errors for # of positive and updated that column for Maricao, Maunabo and Mayaguez. But how is the mortality rate calculated? Would you?The Eloquent Peasant (talk)20:57, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The Eloquent Peasant, the data that I used was directly captured from the official PR dashboard, except for the populations and Cases/100k. Those were from the 2010 Census and by using math. I imagine that when you refer to percentage you are actually referring to the Cases/100k. That math is (Cases ÷ Population) × 100,000. The total is then rounded to the nearest tenth. —Mr Xaero☎️21:05, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Mr Xaero Yes. I used the same source. But noticed Mayaguez -0 didn't make sense 'cause it's big and a city. Checked and there were 3 errors. I also used the dashboard but there were 3 "typos" .. let me see if I can calculate.The Eloquent Peasant (talk)21:12, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The Eloquent Peasant - Weird. FYI is you use Excel, the formula is =ROUND((B3/E3)*100000,1). Just substitute the B3 and E3 to the columns where the Cases and Population are at. —Mr Xaero☎️21:14, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Mr Xaero OK. Got it. Thank you.The Eloquent Peasant (talk)21:18, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Shopping restrictions

[edit]

Was there a limitation on the number of people in each store? Costco's web site says that in KY and PR only one person is allowed in per membership card, but two for all other states. --Beland (talk)02:58, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

PEIS warning

The following warning appears on the page when you preview it:

Warning:Post-expand include size is too large. Some templates will not be included.

To reduce the amount of content that contributes to the issue, I suggest switching the daily source data forTemplate:COVID-19 pandemic data/United States/Puerto Rico medical cases chart to something more practical like weekly or monthly.Jroberson108 (talk)13:54, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
