Should the article talk about how he is often impersonated on Japanese TV and by comedians, much in the same way that Arnold Schwartzenegger is in the US?
This article needs some clean-up:
Did Chris Benoit really train in the Inoki Dojo? I thought that Benoit trained in the NJPW Dojo, but not the modern Inoki Dojo. Please correct me or the article.Patiwat10:45, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed the suggestion that the last paragraph mentioning his claims was not NPOV, anybody have any ideas how to change this? It's quite well known by anybody who follows the business of Puroresu that Inoki says a lot of wild things that don't come true. --Kiltman6716:10, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Secondly, when it comes to the Wrestling section it should probably just be rearranged in some chronological fashion, any attempt to divide it into new sections will probably reveal a lack of material there to work with. With the exception of the Ali match it might be hard to find evidence that his fights (outside the Final Countdown) were legit. Not necessarily because they weren't, but rather that there isn't much written about them. It might be worth saying the Ali match was legit, since there's plenty evidence, but avoiding this issue with other matches. --Kiltman6716:17, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I saw a picture of Inoki fighting Ali, and he looked remarkably similar to a character from Dragon Ball Z. I can't remember his name, but this guy in DBZ has the "muffed" hair like Inoki had in this picture, and he was also a fake wrestler. I'm just curious if Inoki inspired this character. Though many of inoki's matches were dismissed by the skeptics as worked by some, there has been little or no proof at all to suggest the validity of the worked theory and Inoki's mixed martial arts opponents have never stated that the matches were "fake", till now he has confirmed of engaging in only one worked MMA match, that being Antonio Inoki vs Renzo Gracie.
Yet later in the article,
Inoki's other MMA-style matches are widely thought to have been worked, although many believe them to have been legitimate.
Is there a better way to word this because it sounds contradictory to me.

This is just a kind of suggestion, i found it would be nice to have this kind of information, even it´s not that important for puroresu in general.
It would be nice and quite... fun for the user to read a list of famous people that got blessed (slaped) by Inoki. What do ya think?

The name of the WWF championship that Inoki won was called the WWWF World Martial Arts Heavyweight Championship and not the WWF New Japan Martial Arts Championship. Contrary to what the article says, no reliable source establishes that Inoki had several MMA matches. Other than the one with Ali, all the rest of the isoriginal research. Well, the reasons were given in the edit summary. If "YouTube is not a reliable source" is a valid reason for reversion on countless other articles, then it applies here, too. YouTube links should be added to the external links section if they're of value to the article.
The problem is that this is one of far too many articles on my watchlist in which excessive editing activity occurs to only one limited aspect of the article, while the remainder of the article is left badly in need of work. The user whom Skippy is presumably responding to claims that there is a lack of reliably sourced information on Inoki. I assume that user means that there is a lack of information in English. Otherwise, you would be claiming thatWeekly Gong is not a reliable source, which is flat out ludicrous. The mainstream Japanese media has covered Inoki's career in excruciating detail pretty much since Day One, presumably leaving out most of the incriminating bits.
The section on New Japan has more to do with American wrestling than it does with New Japan. It completely fails to mention the fact that New Japan, in its heyday, was ten times bigger than the WWE has ever been. This especially includes television exposure, which many modern-day wrestling fans appear to use as a sole determinant of notability for the purposes of portraying pro wrestling on Wikipedia. Of course, pointing this out would destroy the myths built by the WWE shills/apologists/historical revisionists who exist in abundance on the web. Inoki's role as New Japan's leader and his conflicting personal agendas/ego issues, which led directly to ebbs and flows in New Japan's bottom line and popularity over many years, have been written about countless times. I shouldn't have to point out the whole story with Satoru Sayama and Akira Maeda during the mid 1980s, just to name the prime example.
His political career is only mentioned in the article by virtue of his inclusion inCategory:Japanese sportsperson–politicians. Do you mean to tell me that there are no reliable sources to reference his service in a national-level legislative position? Bullshit. Someone simply decided not to do the research because it may not have been so easy to do. Or someone else felt it didn't fit in with their "My Little Corner Of The World Is Important" complex. If the issue in question is as menial as a series of pro wrestling matches, and the main source of English-language information about these events happens to be a pair of video links -->depicting them in their entirety<-- then I see no reason to gouge each other's eyes out about it. I've added additional citations from Blackbelt Magazine and a pair of prominent Karate websites (as the two Inoki "opponents" discussed in my update were both karateka) in order to provide more concrete sources. Also, "peacock terms"? That said, I do sympathize regarding the lack of English primary sources about a figure as important to pro wrestling as Inoki.SkippyTheSkeptic
