The game is not commercial so probably lacks the third party coverage of many gamesites and magazines (since they often receive pay for publishing articles on a game). I added one reference from IGN, and an interview on a game development site so I think this is sufficient third party coverage to remove the tags. Ofcourse its not much but as I said, this game is not being commercially developed.Wiki1609 (talk)15:37, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the Free software strategies category. However, I'm not sure this was the right move now that I see it's not out yet. GPL is only enforced on something that's released - distributed. This is not, so it's doubtfully free software at this point. Weather it now qualifies for the "future free strategy" is to be seen in the said future. After the feature on Slashdot, I don't think 0AD development team needs any more hype. It's time to release it. Share your thoughts - should the category stay? --Paxcoder (talk)18:14, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The opening paragraph says that work began in 2000, while under history it says that the game began as a conversion mod in 2001. Which is correct?Canine virtuoso (talk)15:36, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As an OpenSource Fan, i hate to say that but this article is absolutely not objective.
The Game is in Development for over 15 years now and still in alpha state and basically a feature creep.
As with many creative opensource projects, this game lacks an creative vision. If it would have one, the people contributing to it would stop doing that, because they probably would not longer see their personal take on that vision fulfilled.
0.A.D. perfectly shows the limits of creative collaboration and even though there are positive examples, most opensource games end up like 0.A.D., decades of development and still in Alpha or Beta.
This is neither mentioned nor discussed at all in this article while this is a common critic point in a lot of other games, especially in commercial game development. Obviously, you can not critique too hard as you don't pay for the game, but as someone following the development of this game, i don't see it finished anytime soon.
The way it is developed right now, 0.A.D. will be in development for at least 10 more years if not more because there is no single vision on what the project actually should be to begin with. So it constantly changes what it wants to be with whoever is currently working on it.58.89.18.90 (talk)15:38, 14 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
