Tribbles homolog 3 is aprotein that in humans is encoded by theTRIB3gene.[5][6][7]

Function

[edit]

The protein encoded by this gene is a putativeprotein kinase that is induced by the transcription factorNF-kappaB. It is apseudoenzyme that is thought to be a negative regulator of NF-kappaB, and can also sensitize cells toTNF- andTRAIL-inducedapoptosis. In addition, this protein has been reported to negatively regulate the cell survival serine-threonine kinaseAKT1.[7] TRIB3 has recently been associated with neuronal signalling, and likeTRIB1 andTRIB2, could be considered as a potential allosteric drug target.[8][9]
