Syed Badrul Ahsan is aBangladeshi journalist and author who currently serves as editor-in-charge ofThe Asian Age, a publication based inDhaka. He previously served as the press minister at the High Commission of Bangladesh, London and has worked for numerous universities such as theUniversity of Dhaka,Independent University, Bangladesh, andUniversity of Liberal Arts Bangladesh as well as being a Fellow atJawaharlal Nehru University. He has written a biography on the Founder of Bangladesh,Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman entitledFrom Rebel to Founding Father: Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to much critical acclaim. Badrul Ahsan regularly contributes toDhaka Courier,First News,Dhaka Tribune,Bangla Tribune,The Daily StarOur Time,Indian Express,Asian Affairs andSouth Asia Monitor.[1][2]
Ahsan studied at theSt. Francis Grammar School, Pakistan, and Notre Dame College, Dhaka.[3] He completed his bachelor's in English literature at theUniversity of Dhaka.[3]
Ahsan was the Press Minister at the Bangladesh High Commission in London from 1997 to 2000.[4] He taught English atNotre Dame College, Dhaka.[3]
Ahsan has served as the executive editor and current affairs editor ofThe Daily Star.[5] He edited Star Books Review and Literature.[6][7]
Ahsan is the editor-in-charge ofThe Asian Age, a publication based in Dhaka.[8] He was a faculty member of theUniversity of Liberal Arts Bangladesh andIndependent University Bangladesh.[3]
In 2020, Ahsan was nominated for the Sohel Samad Memorial Award of thePress Institute of Bangladesh.[9] He is the deputy editor of theTheRound Table:The Commonwealth Journal of International Affairs and Policy Studies.[10]
