Swart gevaar

Term used during apartheid in South Africa

Swart gevaar (Afrikaans for "black danger") was a term used duringapartheid inSouth Africa to refer to the perceived security threat of the majorityblack African population to thewhite South African government.[1][2] It was used by theHerenigde Nasionale Party in the1948 general election to promote theSauer Commission's recommendation ofapartheid.[3]
