Susupuato is amunicipality in theMexicanstate ofMichoacán. The municipality has an area of 273.33 square kilometres (0.46% of the surface of the state)[1] and is bordered to the north by the municipality ofJuárez, to the east and south by the state ofMéxico, and to the west byTuzantla. The municipality had a population of 7,703 inhabitants according to the 2005 census.[2] Its municipal seat is the city ofSusupuato de Guerrero.
Inpre-Columbian days the region was home toPurépecha,Mazahua,Otomi andNahua people.
