Susie Porter (born 1970 or 1971)[1] is an Australian television, film and theatre actress. She made her debut in the 1996 filmIdiot Box, before rising to prominence in films includingParadise Road (1997),Welcome to Woop Woop (1997),Two Hands (1999),Better Than Sex (2000),The Monkey's Mask (2000),Mullet (2001),Teesh and Trude (2002), andThe Caterpillar Wish (2006). Porter is also highly recognised for her roles in television series, most notably, as Patricia Wright inEast West 101, Eve Pritchard inEast of Everything, as Kay Parker inSisters of War, and asMarie Winter in the prison drama,Wentworth.
Porter was born inNewcastle, New South Wales, to Bill, a doctor, and Jenny, a nurse. She has two older sisters, Cathy and Jackie, and a younger sister, Louise.[1][2] Porter attendedNewcastle Grammar School and earned a Bachelor of Arts from theUniversity of Newcastle.[1][3] She graduated from theNational Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 1995.[4] Porter revealed in 2024 in an interview with 9honey that she was originally going to audition at theWestern Australian Academy of Performing Arts but ended up with food poisoning and couldn't attend that audition.[5]
Porter is married to Christopher Mordue, the two married in 2010.[6]
Porter is a wildlife advocate and wildlife ambassador for World Animal Protection.[7]
Porter in 2022 penned a letter to the NSW State Government urging the former Agriculture MinisterDugald Saunders to put an end to all puppy farms across the state.[8]
Porter began her acting career in an episode ofHouse Gang, a short lived television program. She then had small roles in other Australian television programs in the late 1990s, includingBig Sky,Wildside andWater Rats.
In 2006, Porter had a leading role inRAN, an Australian mini-series, which won her a Best Leading Actress in a Television Drama at theAFI Awards. In late 2007, she appeared inEast West 101, a six-part drama series that aired onSBS. In 2008, Porter appeared inEast of Everything (a six-part drama series that aired on the ABC) and in the mini-seriesMake Or Break (an English and Australian production that aired onFoxtel'sUKTV).
In 2009, Porter appeared on the second seasons of bothEast of Everything andEast West 101, and first runThe Jesters andMy Place. In 2010, she appeared on the telemovieSisters of War as Kay Parker. In 2011, she appeared in the third, and final season, ofEast West 101. In 2012, she appeared onChannel Ten's mini-seriesBikie Wars: Brothers in Arms. She played Pam Knight inPuberty Blues from 2012 to 2014.[9]
In 2017, Porter was cast in theFoxtel drama seriesWentworth in the main role Marie Winter;[10] the role was originally portrayed byMaggie Millar inPrisoner. Porter first appeared inWentworth during the fourth episode of thesixth season, broadcast on 10 July 2018.[11] She reprised her role as Marie Winter in theseventh season in 2019, and again in theeighth and final season which premiered in 2020 and ended in 2021. She made her final appearance in penultimate episode of the final season.
In 2024, Porter was named in the cast for ABC dramaPlum.[12]
In December 2022, Porter was named in the cast for the new Disney+ seriesThe Artful Dodger.[13] On 3 February 2025, a cast announcement for the second series ofThe Artful Dodger confirmed that Porter would reprise her role as Lady Jane Fox from series one.[14]

In 1996, Porter made her film debut inIdiot Box.[15] In 1997, she starred as Angie in the Australian comedyWelcome to Woop Woop.[16] In 1999, she had a major role inTwo Hands. In 2000, she starred in the filmBootmen and in the crime drama filmThe Monkey's Mask, which she plays a lesbian private detective who falls in love with a suspect, for which she won the award for 'Best Actress' at the Dallas OUT TAKES festival in 2001.[17] In 2001, she appeared in the Australian movieMullet and had a small role inStar Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones.[18]
In 2005, Porter had a supporting role in the Australian filmLittle Fish. In 2006, she had a role in the filmThe Caterpillar Wish which won her Best Supporting Actress in theAFI Awards.
In 2015, Porter starred inIs This the Real World.
Porter appeared in 2022 filmGold[19] which was filmed in South Australia.
In 2023, Porter appeared in the short filmWaves at Bondi'sFlickerfest.[20]
In 2024, Porter was announced as part of the cast for the filmDirty Boy.[21] On 6 August, Porter was announced as part of the cast for the filmOverture.[22] In 2025Overture would be retitled to The Travelers.[23]
