Sushi Seki (formerly, Sushihatsu) is a Japanesesushi restaurant located at 1143First Avenue (between East 62nd Street and East 63rd Street), on theUpper East Side inManhattan,New York City.[1][2] It was established in 2002.[3] Seki, who uses only one name and who spent five years atSushi of Gari, is the chef and owner.[3][4]
Chefs such asJean-Georges Vongerichten fromJean Georges,Eric Ripert ofLe Bernadin,Daniel Boulud, andGordon Ramsay dine at the restaurant.[5][6][7]
Among its offerings arebutter fish,tunatofu, youngyellowtail withjalapeño, and pickledtoro.[8] It offersomakase.[8] In addition to sushi, with modern sushi being its specialty, the restaurant offers a wide array ofsake.[9][10] The food is served by a knowledgeable staff.[11][12]
In 2013,Zagat's gave it a food rating of 28, which was third-best on the Upper East Side and 10th-best in New York City.[1][13]
