Susannah Grant (born January 4, 1963) is an American screenwriter, director, and producer.
Grant was born inNew York City. She studied atAmherst College and attended theAFI Conservatory.[1] She is also aMiss Porter's School alumna as well as anAmherst College alumna, having graduated in 1984. She later was accepted to theAmerican Film Institute and received theNicholl Fellowship in screenwriting.[2]
From 1994 to 1997, she worked on television as the producer and major writer of the Fox drama seriesParty of Five. She wrote the screenplays forEver After,Erin Brockovich, directed bySteven Soderbergh,28 Days, and Disney'sPocahontas. ForErin Brockovich she received anOscar nomination forBest Original Screenplay in 2001 at the73rd Academy Awards..[1]
After her Academy Award nomination, Grant adaptedIn Her Shoes andCharlotte's Web for the screen and wrote and directedCatch and Release, starringJennifer Garner andTimothy Olyphant. Grant was featured inThe Dialogue.[3]
Grant created and produced the CBS seriesA Gifted Man in 2011. She received theValentine Davies Award in 2011.[4] In September 2013, Grant delivered a screenwriting lecture as part of the BAFTA and BFI Screenwriters' Lecture Series.[5] In 2014, Grant created theABC drama seriesMembers Only for the2014–15 American television season.[6][7][8]
In 2019, Grant co-created, wrote and directed theNetflix miniseriesUnbelievable, starringKaitlyn Dever andToni Collette, adapted from real events.[9] More recently, she signed a first look deal withLionsgate Television.[10] Grant wrote and directed the Netflix filmLonely Planet starring Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth.[11]
Grant has been married to Christopher Henrikson since 1995, and they have two children.[12]
