Superman is acomic book series featuring theDC Comics superhero of the same name. The second relaunch of the mainSuperman title, following the cancellation of the second volume in 2011, it began publication as part of DC'sThe New 52, a company-wide relaunch initiative and reboot following theFlashpoint limited series earlier that year, and the second full-on reboot following the 1986maxiseriesCrisis on Infinite Earths. It ran from 2011 to 2016, before being cancelled and relaunched as part of theDC Rebirth line.[1][2]

Publication history

DC Comics launchedSuperman volume 3 with issue #1 in September 2011 (cover dated November 2011), as part ofThe New 52.[3] The first three issues sawGeorge Pérez doing the scripting and breakdowns. Dan Jurgens began to co-write and drawSuperman withKeith Giffen. Their first issue was #7 (May 2012).[4] As of September 2012's issue #0,Scott Lobdell andKenneth Rocafort became the creative team.[5]John Romita Jr. drew theSuperman series in collaboration with writer Geoff Johns in 2014.[6][7] Romita'sSuperman pencils were inked byKlaus Janson.[8] Superman's secret identity as Clark Kent was revealed to the world in a storyline by writerGene Luen Yang in 2015.[9] This series ended its run with the release of issue #52 (July 2016).
