Superman: Countdown to Apokolips is a platformvideo game developed by Canadian studio Mistic Software and published byInfogrames, released under theAtari brand name forGame Boy Advance. It was based largely onSuperman: The Animated Series, including its character portrayals and art style. Enemies includeLivewire,Metallo, andBruno Mannheim, as well as goons. Development started life at theCrawfish Interactive Studios.
The game serves as a prequel to the events ofSuperman: Shadow of Apokolips. Agents ofDarkseid comes to Earth to bring down the Man of Steel. Meanwhile,Kalibak kidnapsLois Lane, and Livewire, Metallo, and Bruno Mannheim escape from prison.
The game plays from anisometric perspective. Superman is able to fly across levels, and he can use his heat vision and ice blasts. Superman can also punch and kick his enemies to the ground.
