Superboy's Legion is a two-issue comic bookminiseries, published byDC Comicscover dated February and March 2001, under theElseworlds imprint. It is written byMark Farmer, with art by Farmer andAlan Davis. The comic series is a tale about the babyKal-El, the last survivor of the doomed planetKrypton, arrives on Earth in the 30th century and is found by billionaire R.J. Brande. As Kal grows up, he decides to find other super-powered teens like himself and form a Legion of Super-Heroes. The story uses elements from theSilver Age Comics, most notably the originalLegion of Super-Heroes series.
In the year 2987,R. J. Brande, the galaxy's richest man and head of Brande Industries, discovers a life pod in anasteroid belt containingKal-El ofKrypton. Brande adopts Kal, who takes the name Kal Brande and becomes a superhero.
After an argument with Brande, Superboy flies to the location of Krypton and meets theGreen Lantern Talu-Katua. He is inspired to form the Legion, a superhero team, alongsideImra Ardeen andRokk Krinn. They hold televised tryouts and inductSun Boy,Colossal Boy,Shrinking Violet,Bouncing Boy,Element Lad, andShadow Lass into the group. Subsequently, the group stops an asteroid from destroying the planet Rimbor.
The Legion is attacked by theFatal Five, during which Colossal Boy is killed and Cosmic Boy loses an arm toPersuader. The Five kidnapBrainiac 5 under orders from their leader,Lex Luthor.
The Legion arrives on Colu to rescue Brainiac 5, during which the Science Police computerUniverso is destroyed. Saturn Girl befriends theEmerald Empress's Emerald Eye and convinces it to serve as Universo's replacement.
The Legion defeats Luthor, who is revealed to be an android based on the original. Afterward, the Legion becomes the official heroes of the newly formedUnited Planets. Superboy hands over leadership of the Legion toUltra Boy and begins dating Lois Olsen.
In November 2024,Superboy's Legion was re-released as part of a collection alongside the Elseworlds storiesSon of Superman,Supergirl: Wings, andSuperman: True Brit.[1]
