Suburban Transit is a bus operator incentralNew Jersey owned byCoach USA, which in turn is owned by the private equity firm, Variant Equity Advisors, and provides commuter bus service fromMercer,Somerset, andMiddlesex County toNew York City and local bus service along theNew Jersey Route 27 andU.S. Route 130 in Middlesex County. It has been severely impacted by the Coronavirus Pandemic, which has caused a substantial decline in commuter bus ridership.[2] They also operate the Metropark, Plainfield, Monmouth, andMiddlesex County Local Routes forNew Jersey Transit.

In June 2024, Coach USA filed forChapter 11 bankruptcy, blaming corporate impact caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The company has plans to sell its assets, and plans to sell its Megabus subsidiaries (including Suburban) to Bus Company Holdings, a unit of the Renco Group.[3]
