Subedi (Nepali:सुवेदी[subedi]) is one of thesurnames ofBrahmin Varna in Nepal.[citation needed] In ancient days, people who could reciteVeda easily (सु-वेद = सुवेदी ) were called by the surname Subedi. It is also believed[by whom?] that they originated from the same Village calledSubeda which lies in the Rolpa, Bajhang District of Far Western Nepal which is why they are called Subedi. They belong to theBharadwaja Gotra. Subedi are mostly found in the hilly region ofNepal. They are also found in kingdom ofBhutan andMyanmar.[citation needed]
