Subashi Formation (Bayingolin)

TheSubashi Formation (Chinese:苏巴什组) is aLate Cretaceous (Campanian toMaastrichtian)[1] formation from theXinjiang Autonomous Region of western China.[2] Initially described byDong Zhiming in 1977, the formation contains remains ofTarbosaurus which were initially described as a separate taxonShanshanosaurus huoyanshanensis. Remains of a sauropod, likelyNemegtosaurus, and a hadrosaurid, likelyJaxartosaurus, have also been found.

The formation is located in theFlaming Mountains region of Xinjiang, north of theTurpan Depression. It is not far fromLianmuqin Town ofShanshan County,[3] and is presumably named after the village of Subashi (42°55′11″N89°44′36″E / 42.91972°N 89.74333°E /42.91972; 89.74333), which is located some 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) to the west of Lianmuqin, inTuyugou Township (吐峪沟乡).
