Struble is a neighborhood and anunincorporated community inFerguson Township,Centre County,Pennsylvania, United States. It is part ofHappy Valley and the largerNittany Valley. The neighborhood is to the east ofPine Hall, and west of theWest End inState College.[2]
The town was named after Conrad Struble, who owned a farm there which proved to lie over rich deposits ofiron ore.[3] Mining began in 1880. TheBellefonte and Buffalo Run Railroad graded aright-of-way fromBellefonte to the ore pits in 1883, but track was not laid until 1887, by its successor theBuffalo Run, Bellefonte and Bald Eagle Railroad.[4] Even after the end of ore mining, Struble remained an important junction point on the railroad, now theBellefonte Central.
