Map of boundaries from 2011
The Strathkelvin and Bearsden constituency was created at the same time as the Scottish Parliament, for the1999 Scottish Parliament election, with the name and boundaries of the existingStrathkelvin and Bearsden constituency of the UK House of Commons. Ahead of the2005 United Kingdom general election theHouse of Commons constituencies in Scotland were altered, whilst the exisiting Scottish Parliament constituencies were retained, and there is now no longer any link between the two sets of boundaries.[5] The boundaries of the seat were altered slightly by theFirst Periodic Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries in 2011, but were left unchanged at theSecond Periodic Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries in 2025.[6][7]
The rest of East Dunbartonshire is represented by theClydebank and Milngavie constituency.[8]
