In theDomesday Book of 1086 the village was recorded asStoche.[4] The affix 'Goldington' came later and refers to "Peter de Goldington" (fromGoldington inBedfordshire) who held the manor in the early thirteenth century.[5]

Flooding

[edit]

Stoke Goldington is susceptible to occasional flooding, and suffered badly in 2007 with repeated floods. Water settled up to 1.5 metres deep in places, requiring the evacuation of some of the population.[8] Subsequently, contractors forMilton Keynes City Council installed measures to reduce the flood risk.[9] In May 2018, there was another flood,[10] that overcame the new flood defences.[citation needed]
