Steven E. Jacob (born June 13, 1966) is an American politician serving in theMinnesota House of Representatives since 2023. A member of theRepublican Party of Minnesota, Jacob represents District 20B in southeasternMinnesota, which includes the cities ofPlainview,St. Charles, andZumbrota and parts ofGoodhue,Olmsted,Wabasha, andWinona Counties.[1][2]
Jacob grew up on a farm and is a fourth-generation family farmer. He has served as a county commissioner forWinona County, where he was a part of the Soil and Water Conservation Board, Planning Commission, and Road and Bridge Committee.[1]
Jacob was elected to theMinnesota House of Representatives in2022. He first ran after redistricting and after eight-termRepublican incumbentSteve Drazkowski announced he would run for a seat in theMinnesota Senate.[1]
Jacob serves on the Agriculture Finance and Policy and the Environment and Natural Resources Finance and Policy Committees.[1]
Jacob was the only representative to vote against establishingJuneteenth as a Minnesota state holiday, saying “I saw this as an expansion of government where the taxpayer will be charged, but will receive one less day of service from all local levels of government".[3]
