Steven Hall (born 1975 in Derbyshire) is a British writer. He is the author ofThe Raw Shark Texts, lead writer of the video gameBattlefield 1, and writer onNike's World Cup short filmThe Last Game.[1][2]

Hisdebut novel,The Raw Shark Texts won the 2008Somerset Maugham Award and a 2007 Borders Original Voices Award, and was shortlisted for the 2008Arthur C. Clarke Award.[3] The book has been translated into 29 different languages, and a screenplay for a film adaptation has been written bySimon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire).[4]

Hall has written forGranta Magazine andLonely Planet.[5][6] He has also written scripts forDoctor Who radio dramas[7] and was the lead writer for the video gamesCrysis 3,[8][9]Ryse: Son of Rome,[10]Battlefield 1, andBattlefield V.

In 2007, Hall was named as one of Waterstone's "25 Authors for the Future".[11] In 2010, Hall was named as one of the best 20 novelists under 40 byThe Daily Telegraph.[12] In 2013, Hall was named as one ofGranta′sBest of Young British Novelists 2013 out of 20 novelists listed in total.[13]
