Steve Harrison (born October 25, 1966) is an American politician from the state ofWest Virginia. A member of theRepublican Party, Harrison served in both theWest Virginia House of Delegates andWest Virginia Senate. He is currently the Clerk of the West Virginia House of Delegates.

Career

Harrison served in theWest Virginia House of Delegates andWest Virginia Senate for a total of 14 years. He opted not to run for re-election to the state Senate in 2006.[1][2] Since retiring from the state Senate, Harrison has worked forPoca Valley Bank, and played as aplacekicker for asemi-professionalAmerican football team. He also coachestrack and field.[1]

Harrison lost the May 2014 primary for theUnited States House of Representatives, running to representWest Virginia's 2nd congressional district in the2014 election.IncumbentShelley Moore Capito was running for theUnited States Senate. Harrison had won astraw poll held by the Republican Executive Committee of Kanawha County, but ended up losing the primary.[3]
