InGreek mythology,Sterope (/ˈstɛrəp/;Ancient Greek:Στερόπη,[sterópɛː], fromστεροπή,steropē,'lightning'),[1] also calledAsterope (Ἀστερόπη), was one of the sevenPleiades.[2]

Biography

Sterope was the daughter ofAtlas andPleione, born to them atMount Cyllene inArcadia. She was the wife of KingOenomaus ofPisa, or according to some accounts, his mother byAres[3] orHyperochus.[3] Sterope was also credited to be the mother ofEvenus (father ofMarpessa) by Ares.[4]
