Stellingwarfs (Dutch:Stellingwerfs) is aWestphalian[citation needed] andFriso-Saxon[citation needed] dialect spoken inOoststellingwerf andWeststellingwerf in the Dutch province ofFriesland, and also inSteenwijkerland andWesterveld in the Dutch province ofOverijssel andDrenthe.

LikeHet Bildt andLeeuwarden, Weststellingwerf and Ooststellingwerf are among the municipalities of Friesland whereWest Frisian is not spoken.

The language was identified by the government of theNetherlands in 1996 within Low Saxon.[1]
