Stanowisko[stanɔˈviskɔ], is avillage in the administrative district ofGmina Giby, withinSejny County,Podlaskie Voivodeship, in north-easternPoland, close to the borders withBelarus andLithuania.[4] It lies approximately 18 km (11 mi) south-east ofSejny and 99 km (62 mi) north of the regional capitalBiałystok.
It is the nearest village to the BYLTPL tripoint that lies to the SE and is reached throughforest tracks.
The royal village was located at the end of the 18th century in the Grodno district of the Trakai Voivodeship in theGrand Duchy of Lithuania.[5]
In 1827 it was recorded that the village had a population of 27 inhabitants and 2 homes, in 1890 the population was recorded at 54 inhabitants and 9 homes.[6]
In theinter-war period a guard post of the Border Protection Corps was stationed here,[7] after thewar a WOP watchtower.
