Stanley Wayne Mathis (born December 1, 1955) is an American actor, singer, and dancer. He played the characterSchroeder in the 1999 revival ofClark Gesner'sYou're A Good Man, Charlie Brown.
Mathis played Paul in the revival ofKiss Me, Kate. Additional Broadway credits include the revival ofWonderful Town,Jelly's Last Jam, andOh, Kay!.[1]
In 1997 Mathis appeared as Banzai in the original Broadway cast ofThe Lion King, a musical adaptation of the1994 Disney animated film of the same name.[2]
In 2009 he was in a Yale Repertory production ofDeath of a Salesman byArthur Miller, playing the role of Stanley.[3]
He starred on Broadway in the musical comedyNice Work if You Can Get It costarringMatthew Broderick andKelli O'Hara.
He starred inThe Book of Mormon on Broadway as Mafala Hatimbi succeedingMichael Potts.
In October through November 2023, he starred playing the role of Meyer Wolfsheim inPaper Mill Playhouse's world premiere ofThe Great Gatsby, an adaption of theFitzgerald novel of the same name.[4]
