Standard Design for Buddhist Temple Construction is aChinese language text written byDaoxuan in the earlyTang dynasty. It described a design for Buddhist temples influenced by mainstreamChinese architecture, and based upon a traditional layout composed of multiple, related courtyards. This architectural tradition can be traced back to theShang andZhou dynasties.[1][2][3]
