Stan Ghițescu (2 June 1881 – 25 February 1952) was aRomanian politician.
Born inMârzănești,Teleorman County,[1] he attended a normal school and enteredAlexandru Averescu'sPeople's Party.[2] He served as mayor ofRoșiorii de Vede from 1920 to 1921.[3] In 1926, he was elected vice president of theAssembly of Deputies. He later joinedOctavian Goga'sNational Agrarian Party, which subsequently merged with theNational-Christian Defense League to form theNational Christian Party. He became general secretary of the new party, and while Goga was Prime Minister from December 1937 to March 1938, served as Minister of Cooperation. He took part in the 1938 formation of theNational Renaissance Front, the sole party underKingCarol II.[2] He served asMinister of Labor in two cabinets during the summer of 1940: underIon Gigurtu from 4 July to 4 September,[4][1] and underIon Antonescu from 4 to 14 September until the establishment of theNational Legionary State.[5] Arrested under the newcommunist regime, he was sent toSighet Prison in May 1950, and died there nearly two years later. He was buried in a mass grave.[1]
