St. Peter's Cathedral (French:Cathédrale Saint-Pierre de Rabat) is aRoman Catholicchurch located at Golan Square (Place du Golan) in downtownRabat,Morocco. It was erected in the early 20th century in theArt Deco style. Thecathedral is dedicated toSaint Peter, and is theecclesiastical seat of theArchdiocese of Rabat.[citation needed]
Construction of the cathedral began in 1919,[citation needed] and its chief architect wasAdrien Laforgue.[1] The cathedral was inaugurated by Resident-GeneralHubert Lyautey in 1921.[2] The two towers of the cathedral were added in the 1930s.[citation needed]
The cathedral is operational and Mass is celebrated daily.[citation needed]
