St. Mary's Airport (IATA:KSM,ICAO:PASM,FAALID:KSM)[2] is a publicairport located four miles (6 km) west of thecentral business district ofSt. Mary's, in theKusilvak Census Area of theU.S. state ofAlaska. This airport is publicly owned by the State ofAlaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) - Northern Region.[1]

St. Mary's Airport covers an area of 3,600acres (1,500 ha) and contains twogravel surfacedrunways: 17/35 measuring 6,008 x 150 feet (1,831 x 46 m) and 6/24 measuring 1,520 x 60 feet (463 x 18 m).[1]

Accidents

  • On November 29, 2013, aCessna 208 Caravan operated byEra Alaska crashed 1 mile SE of the airport because of nighttime weather conditions, pilot error, and loss of situational awareness. The pilot and 3 passengers were killed out of 10 on board.[6]
