Springfield is a suburb ofJohannesburg,South Africa. It is a smallindustrial suburb located south of theJohannesburg CBD, close toLa Rochelle. It is located in Region F of theCity of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality.
Prior to the discovery of gold on theWitwatersrand in 1886, the suburb lay on land on one of the original farms calledTurffontein.[2] Springfield became a suburb in 1906.[2]
