Spizixos is a genus ofpasserine birds in the bulbul familyPycnonotidae.
The genusSpizixos was introduced in 1845 by the English zoologistEdward Blyth to accommodate thecrested finchbill.[1] The wordSpizixos combines theAncient Greekspiza meaning "finch" with the genus nameIxos that was introduced byCoenraad Jacob Temminck in 1825.[2]
