Spiroxasone (INNTooltip International Nonproprietary Name,USANTooltip United States Adopted Name) is asynthetic,steroidalantimineralocorticoid of thespirolactone group which was developed as adiuretic andantihypertensive agent but was never marketed.[1][2] It wassynthesized andassayed in 1963.[1] The drug is 7α-acetylthiospirolactone with theketonegroup removed from the C17α spirolactonering.[1] Similarly to other spirolactones likespironolactone, spiroxasone also possessesantiandrogen activity.[3][4]
