Spelaeornis, thetypical wren-babblers, is abirdgenus in thefamilyTimaliidae. Among this group, the typical wren-babblers are quite closely related to thetype species, thechestnut-capped babbler (Timalia pileata). One species that was earlier placed in the genus, thespotted elachura has been removed to a genus of its ownElachura and placed in a separate family.[2]
