South Korea, asKorea, competed at the1984 Summer Olympics inLos Angeles,United States. The nation returned to the Summer Games after participating in theAmerican-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics. 175 competitors, 116 men and 59 women, took part in 97 events in 19 sports.[1] As the country hostedthe next Olympics in Seoul, a traditional Korean segment was performed at the closing ceremony.
Korea's second appearance in Olympic archery was highly successful, especially for the women's team.Seo Hyang-soon (서향순) set new Olympic records in both the single and doubleFITA round categories. The Korean medalists were separated by only 13 points, while the fourth place competitor was 31 points behindKim Jin-ho (김진호).
