South Early College High School (SECHS ), formerlyEmpowerment South Early College High School andEmpowerment College Preparatory High School , is acollege-preparatory high school inHouston ,Texas , US.[ 4] It is a part of theHouston Independent School District . It was previously located on the campus of Albert Thomas Middle School[ 5] and then atJones High School [ 6] [ 7]
Jones High School , where South Early College Prep was once locatedThe school opened in August 2005.[ 5] Empowerment merged with South Early College High School in 2010.[ 8]
Its current location, at 1930 Airport Boulevard, is on the South Campus ofHouston Community College [ 9] began construction in 2014[ 10] and opened in August 2016.[ 1]
The school offers its students the opportunity to earn an associate degree while concurrently achieving a high school degree.[ 9]
