TheSouth Africa women's national under-20 soccer team (Basetsana), is a youth football (soccer) team, which representsSouth Africa and is controlled by theSouth African Football Association, the governing body forfootball in South Africa. The team's main objective is to qualify and play at theFIFA U-20 Women's World Cup and develop players for the main national teamBanyana Banyana.
The South Africa women's national under-19 team were runners up twice for theAfrican U-19 Women's Championship in2002 and2004.
The team competed in thewomen's tournament at the2019 African Games held in Rabat, Morocco.[1][2]
They won the AUSC Region 5 Games title in 2016 and defended it in 2018.[3][4]
In2019, they finished in third place at the inauguralCOSAFA U-20 Women's Championship.[5]
In2024 and2025, they finished as runners-up toZambia.[6][7]
