Soup Number Five, variously spelledSoup No. 5 orSoup #5, is asoup made frombull'stestes[1][2] orpenis.[3] The dish originates fromFilipino cuisine. It is believed to haveaphrodisiac properties.[3]

Regional appellation

Cebu's variant of Soup Number Five is calledlansiao orlanciao[4] and is a popular street dish. Its name "lansiao" was adapted fromChinese descendants who speakHokkien, of whichHokkienChinese:𡳞鳥;Pe̍h-ōe-jī:lǎn-chiáu refers to themale's genitals.

Soup Number Five is also known asRemember Me (usually shortened toRM) inCagayan de Oro. The name originates from the name of a restaurant specializing in Soup Number Five. The name has become the most common name for Soup Number Five inMindanao, supplanting its other names in the northern regions of the Philippines.[5][6][7]
